Is it my imagination, or week by week the standard of setting seems to be always improving?
Commended this week are:
Jacq, Liverpool, for: Artist as voiced by Boleyn? (7) CEZANNE
David Kenning, Whitstable, for: Cast in metal got from fifty pesetas (7) TYPESET
James Glassonbury, Stonehouse, Glos, for: Hang-ups at Christmas over gin stocks (9) STOCKINGS
Stephen Clarke, Sydney, for: Bad driver reportedly handled corner (4,3) ROAD HOG
Kieron Dineen, Newport, for: Drug partnership? (5,7) JOINT VENTURE
Stephen Clarke, Sydney, for: Inside edge? (4) NICK
Tom WW (address not supplied) for the imaginative clue: Glibness - it has its pros and cons (5,8)
The top three were all fabulous, but I finally settled on:
Bronze: Neil Walker, Barrow-in-Furness, for: Wine and cocktails mixed the wrong way? (13) ANTICLOCKWISE
Silver: Kieron Dineen, Newport, for: The walls of Dartmoor are not accurately proportioned (5,2,5) BUILT TO SCALE
AND THE WINNER!
Gold: Ali Gascoigne, London (because I might nick the anagram, with its author's permission (!!)), for: Performing ablutions, he's very fast (5,4) USAIN BOLT
Great stuff as ever. Thanks for all your entries, and keep them coming!
John (Paul)
