Hello and welcome to Cryptica.co.uk.

My name’s John Halpern, and I’m very fortunate to have the best job in the world, writing cryptic crosswords for a number of top newspapers in Britain.

I write anonymously for The Times. I also write under pseudonyms (always four-letter words) for The Guardian (as Paul), The Financial Times (Mudd) and The Independent (Punk).

For now, Cryptica is a point of contact for you to reach me, and for me to reach you. You can read about me, and about my pseudonym Paul, via the tabs on this page, or perhaps you’d like to buy some crossword books – there are plenty of them available through the Books tab. As we go along I’d like to introduce lots of extra stuff to keep you (and me!) entertained, so do let me know what I can do for you.

It would be wonderful to stay in contact with you all, if I may, so do take a moment to register your interest in cryptica.co.uk via the Register button on this page.

Also, I love to keep a conversation going with crossword lovers and lovers of wordplay across the world. Do send a comment via my Twitter feed or my Facebook page.

Also, for media enquiries, please use the Contact Us page and I will get back to you shortly.

Thank you for visiting. Do keep in touch, and have a great day.

All the best,

John Halpern
